“The most powerful relationship you will ever have is the relationship with yourself.” – Steve Maraboli
Today we are diving into a crucial aspect of manifestation that often goes overlooked: self-compassion. As we journey through life, striving to create the reality we desire, we must understand that self-compassion isn’t just a feel-good practice—it’s an essential tool for transforming our lives from the inside out.
At the heart of this transformation lies our inner child, the keeper of our subconscious programming. Self-compassion serves as a powerful gateway to healing and reprogramming these deep-seated beliefs that shape our reality.
How Childhood Perceptions Become Adult Realities
At the core of our being lies our inner child, the keeper of our subconscious programming. This part of us holds beliefs formed in our earliest years, profoundly shaping our current reality. It’s crucial to understand that our subconscious mind is largely formed in the first seven years of life, a time when our prefrontal cortex and other key brain areas are still developing.
During these formative years, children exist in an egocentric state, perceiving everything from a “me-centered” perspective. They’re also in a hypnotic theta brain wave state, absorbing everything as truth and believing that all events and behaviors relate directly to them. This leads to a literal and often misunderstood interpretation of experiences.
“For instance, if a parent is consistently unavailable due to work, a child might interpret this as “I’m not worthy of attention” rather than understanding the complexities of adult responsibilities. These misinterpretations become deep-seated beliefs that continue to influence our adult lives unless addressed.”
The Bridge to Our Inner Child
Self-compassion acts as a bridge, allowing us to connect with our inner child’s needs and feelings. It creates a safe space for our inner child to express, be heard, and most importantly, to have their perceptions gently corrected.
To truly change our reality, we must engage with this inner child. We need to have compassionate conversations, acknowledging that we’re no longer that vulnerable child but adults capable of reframing those early experiences. It’s essential to validate their feelings while gently correcting their perceptions.
“When we approach ourselves with kindness and understanding, we’re essentially telling our inner child, “You are worthy. You are deserving. You are more than enough.” This compassionate approach is the key to shifting those limiting beliefs that have been shaping our reality.”
How Self Compassion Aids in This Process
To manifest happiness, wealth, peace, abundance, and freedom, our inner child must believe they are worthy of these experiences.
